Pier Paolo Pitacco, born in 1953, lives and works in Milan, where he has been at the centre of the biggest publishing events connected with the success of “Italian style” since the late Seventies.
Art director of Uomo Vogue from 1977 through 1979, he held the same position for Elle Italia from 1988 until 1999. In 1979 and 1980 Pitacco was art director for McCann Erickson Italia, and in 1980 he participated in publishing plans for the magazine Donna, of which he kept the art direction for advertising and special promotions. He was in charge of the graphic design of Mondo Uomo, and served as the publication’s art director from 1981 until 1988. From 1985 through 1987 he was in charge of graphic design for Modo, a new magazine of architecture and design, and for the fashion magazine Sportswear International. He has also worked as editorial image consultant for numerous Italian publications, including Corriere della Sera.
Since May 2003 Pitacco has been working as art director for development of Vanity Fair magazine for Condé Nast Italia.
When Corriere della Sera launched its women’s weekly Io Donna in 1996, Pier Paolo Pitacco was asked to come up with the editorial graphic project, and he served as creative director until the end of 2002. Between 1999 and 2001 he was in charge of editorial design for Mondadori’s news magazine Primo Piano, enclosed with the newspapers La Nazione, Il Resto del Carlino and il Giorno. At the same time he oversaw three graphic review projects for the De Agostini Rizzoli Group: Fit for Fun, Happy Web and Speak Up. In 2001 the Richemont group appointed him to develop editorial projects and act as art director for the French and English editions of the international magazine Cartier Art.
In 1982 Pitacco founded Cento per Cento srl, his consulting firm, which has worked on image development for prominent Italian and international corporations, interfaced with advertising, fashion, packaging and corporate design. Clients include Missoni, Ermenegildo Zegna, Fiorucci, Fratelli Rossetti, Tod's, Fay, Stefanel, Wella, Cartier, Iceberg, Iwc,Bticino,Platinum guild, l’Oréal, Marzotto,
Aldo Coppola, Closed, Byblos, Postalmarket, Best Company, Prénatal, La Perla, Gucci, Puig Profumi, Carlo Tivioli, Loro Piana,

While coordinating image for such historic trademarks as Jager Le Coultre and leading innovators such as Swatch and Wella, Pitacco has also worked on institutional communications for bodies such as the City of Milan and the Chamber of Commerce of Siena.
Pier Paolo Pitacco has been a registered member of the order of journalists since 1982. The Italian Art Director Club has presented him with numerous awards. His book Stile Italiano: Twenty years’ graphic design in Italian Fashion (Lupetti Editore) was published in 2000, tracing his work since its origins. Pitacco’s work appears regularly in international fashion magazines.
Since May 2003 until July 2006, Pitacco has been working as art director for the development of “Vanity Fair” magazine for Condé Nast Italia.
In the last two years he has develops projects in Moscow, Paris and Kiev as creative director for Hachette international.
